Ermitage Kalone genes in high demand at Horseman Elite Auction
The 23rd edition of the Horseman Elite Auction stood out for its top-quality foals and broodmares, a strong turnout of spectators, and solid prices. The genes of European Championship medalist Ermitage Kalone were especially sought after. The filly Ermione vd Walhoeve SC Z topped the auction, selling for €28,000 to Denmark, while several other foals also changed hands for impressive sums, often to loyal returning clients.
The organizers of the Horseman Elite Auction look back on a truly rewarding evening at the Azelhof. The combination of a strong collection, vibrant atmosphere, and enthusiastic attendance made the event a true highlight. The foals averaged €12,000, allowing both breeders and buyers to make valuable investments.
International clients
The Ermitage Kalone filly Ermione vd Walhoeve SC Z was already seen as a standout in the collection. Bred out of the full sister to the 1.55m-level showjumper Expression from Second Life Z (s.Emerald), she fully lived up to expectations. A returning buyer from Denmark secured this promising talent for €28,000. Another filly, Cocktail van ’t Gelutt (s.Conthargos), attracted strong interest both in person and online and will remain in Belgium after selling for €19,000. The top-priced colt, Cosmo vd Bisschop (s.Emerald van ’t Ruytershof), fetched €16,000 and was sold to the United States. The broodmare Chialou (s.Chacco-Blue) will also cross the Atlantic, having been sold for the same amount. That Ermitage Kalone’s bloodlines are in high demand was further confirmed by the sale of the filly Colette van Oosterwijk for €17,000.
Supporting a good cause
The evening began on a heartwarming note with the auction of a miniature filly for charity. Renowned Belgian breeders Tony and Mieke Raman of Kattenheye Stables showed their big hearts and were pleased to offer €2,300 for this coloured filly. This amount will go entirely to “Kom op tegen Kanker” (“Fight against Cancer”).
